Storrs Gate Guest House in Bowness on Windermere is in the heart of the
beautiful Lake District National Park.
The Hawkshead Ferry is a "stones-throw" from our doorstep, affording easy access to the far side of Lake Windermere and giving opportunity to explore areas such as Coniston Water, Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest to name but a few.

Our location is ideal for walking, cycling, sailing or simply exploring the Lakeland villages, tracing the footsteps of William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and enjoying spectacular scenery.


Storrs Gate House is a lovely 19th Century detached, country bed and breakfast, nestling in its own secluded, spacious gardens, opposite Lake Windermere. A leisurely, picturesque 15-minute stroll will take you along the lakeshore into Bowness Bay and village. Being only half a mile from Bowness-on-Windermere, our location is convenient for amenities, yet out of the hustle and bustle of the busy resort. Ample parking is provided for our guests. Windermere village is one and a half miles from the lake. We are a short taxi ride from Windermere railway station.

Throughout the house, you will find many original features, exquisite hand-sewn furnishings, picture and china collections - all creating an ambience of olde-worlde charm. The warmth of our entrance hall will enchant you - the warmth of our welcome will leave you in no doubt that your comfort and care is essential to us throughout your stay.

We are delighted to present two ground floor bedrooms, offering very high quality, luxury accommodation and wheelchair access. (Separate ramped entrance for disabled guests and portable bathroom aids if required.)
