Storrs Gate House is the perfect base for walking in the Lake District. Whatever time of year you visit you’ll be treated to a feast for the senses. Many of our visitors return throughout the year to experience the shifting colours, sights and sounds of the changing seasons.
There are Lake District walks to suit every taste – from gentle Windermere walks around the lakeshore and Bowness Bay to the slightly more strenuous, but hugely rewarding, walk to nearby Brant Fell summit where the views will take your breath away. For those seeking something more demanding, there are a wealth of rugged and testing Lake District walks within easy reach of Storrs Gate House.
For families, or for anyone wanting to experience the best of walking in the Lake District without tackling anything too demanding, there is a wealth of choice within easy reach of Storrs Gate House.
Take a journey across the lake to Claife Heights. Claife Station was built in the 1790s and is a popular spot for viewing the lake at its most majestic.
Tarn Hows is a 1.5 mile trail offering stunning views of the Langdale Pikes and the Helvellyn range and is suitable for wheelchairs.
The Grizedale Forest offers the chance to combine walking in the Lake District with impressive yet sympathetic forest art. It boasts a host of Lake District walks and cycle tracks of varying difficulties and the chance to take to the trees with the Go Ape! attraction.
Of course, we’ve barely scratched the surface. From gentle Windermere walks to something far more demanding, whatever your idea of walking in the Lake District, at Storrs Gate House we’ll be delighted to help you plan your itinerary for your next visit. We look forward to welcoming you to the Lake District.
